This bathroom renovation was a sweet beginning for our client Meghan and her best friend Otto when they closed on this one-of-kind historic condominium in the heart of Northwest DC. All was a yes except…. the bathroom. We had to jump right into renovations before move-in because the bath needed ALL the upgrades. This historic space was ready to be reimagined for its modern-day era.

We kept its original plumbing locations stayed however by starting over with new fixtures we were able to add MORE storage in this small space. By creating more spaciousness with a console sink and a new toilet, we carved out and created a built-in linen closet. A huge bonus for a city abode.

The Nero Marquina tile in a large-scale herringbone with a brass edge gives this bathroom all the moody yet classic vibes - a respect for the historic details but with modern upgrades.

A highlight in the design selection was all the unlacquered brass plumbing fixtures and sconces. One of my favorite details is the freshened-up original vanity mirror with a perfect new knob to elevate it.
